Carver County residents have many options when it comes to public transportation. Whether it's local and express transit or on-demand options, many resources exist to help get you where you need to go.
Please note the below is provided as informational--the County doesn't manage or oversee mass transit. The Metropolitan Council serves as the seven-county region's primary transit service provider, working with partners to support a bus and rail system.
The public transit agency for the Cities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Carver, SouthWest offers service to and from downtown Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, Normandale Community College and Best Buy Headquarters. In addition to its regular route service, it offers seasonal services like State Fair Express, Twins Express, Vikings Express, Gophers Express, select concerts, and more.
SW Prime is an on-demand transit service for Eden Prairie, Chaska, Chanhassen, Carver, and Victoria. Plus, Southdale service on Saturdays.
As a modern local service, you may request a ride through its smartphone app or phone, indicate the location from which you want to be picked up and where you want to go. A shared ride will be sent to pick you up.
Vehicles are ADA compliant – please indicate whether you will be taking a wheelchair, walker, or bike when requesting a ride.

SW Prime MD
A public transit service for non-emergency medical services available to residents of Chanhassen, Chaska, Carver and Victoria. SW Prime MD currently provides transportation to all medical facilities in Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Chaska and Victoria. Ridgeview Medical Center and Ridgeview Specialty Clinics in Waconia, Ridgeview Excelsior Clinic and some area of Minnetonka and Edina are included as well.
Cost is $10 each way, although Ridgeview provides a $5/ride subsidy to those travelling to Ridgeview facilities.

A shared service of Carver and Scott Counties, SmartLink is available to residents in Carver County. SmartLink Transit includes Dial-a-Ride, Medical Assistance and Volunteer Drivers. SmartLink Transit can get you anywhere in the seven county metro area. In some cases, you may need to transfer to other transportation providers.
Starting Jan. 1, 2020, Chaska and Chanhassen residents cannot use SmartLink for trips that start and end in Chaska or Chanhassen, and must instead use SW Prime. Chanhassen and Chaska residents seeking on-demand service with destinations outside those two cities or Eden Prairie can still use SmartLink.
