Traffic signal retrofits for Flashing Yellow Arrow (FYA) signal operations at four Hwy 212 interchanges involving ten (10) traffic signal intersections. See map of the locations where these are at: Hwy 10 (Engler Blvd); Hwy 41 (Chestnut St.), Hwy 17 (Powers Blvd); and Hwy 101 (Great Plains Blvd.). While not part of this project, FYA is being planned for the Jonathan Carver Parkway/ Hwy 212 Interchange as part the Jonathan Carver Parkway Reconstruction Project with the City of Carver.
As part of a MnDOT grant program called the Local Partnership Program, Carver County is partnering with the MnDOT and the City of Chanhassen to add Flashing Yellow Arrow signals at four key Hwy 212 Interchanges in Carver County.
Work is mostly limited to adding new loops in the pavement on the left turn lanes on the mainline highways, along with new 4-section signal heads on these left turn lanes to show the flashing yellow arrow signal. Some other related traffic signal equipment is being updated as part of the project as well. Fairly minor work, but some construction traffic impacts are expected while this work is being done.
Goals & Objectives
Modernize traffic signals at key locations. Provide more flexible traffic signal operations, reduce delays and increase safety as much possible.
Current Traffic Impacts
See Below and stay tuned for updates
What to Expect
The contractor and project partners will begin work in early April through July/August, 2020, weather and conditions permitting. Some lane closures and traffic control will be in place at various project locations. Go slow and be careful of lane assignments and construction workers.
No detour routes necessary. Work will be performed under traffic. There will be lane closures as needed.
See map of the locations where FYA signals are being added at Hwy 10 (Engler Blvd); Hwy 41 (Chestnut St.); Hwy 17 (Powers Blvd); and Hwy 101 (Great Plains Blvd.).
