About Lake Minnewashta Regional Park...
Lake Minnewashta Regional Park is a 340 acre park situated on the shores of Lake Minnewashta. Facilities include a swimming beach, bathhouse, off-leash dog area, reservable picnic shelters, sand volleyball courts, creative playground, paved boat access, paved bike trails, turf trails for walking and skiing, ski/snowshoe rental, and vending machines. Park hours are from 6:00A.M.-10:00P.M. (during the fishing season, the park will open at 5:00A.M.)
Vehicle Permits:All vehicles entering the park are required to purchase and properly display a daily or annual vehicle permit for Carver County Parks. Permits can be purchased at the park entrance either through the gate house (summer months only) or through the honor box (year round) with cash or check. Annual Vehicle Permits can also be purchased online or by phone at 952-466-5250 using a Master, Visa or Discover Card. Replacement Annual Vehicle Permits will require a $5.00 replacement fee and are available only at the Park Office. View a complete listing of park fees here.

Trails & Facilities:
Off Leash Dog Area: Check out the popular fenced-in off-leash dog area at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park. This 18-acre site includes a separate area for small dogs and approximately one mile of trails. Trails: Enjoy a leisurely stroll along five miles of turf and natural surface trails that meander along the edge of Lake Minnewashta, through forested and prairie area of this 340-acre park. In the winter, separate trails are groomed for skiing and walking.
Lake Minnewashta Public Boat Access: One public boat access within the park accommodates 37 vehicles with boat trailers. Parking for vehicles with boat trailers is limited to 37 per City of Chanhassen Ordinance. If boat trailer parking is full, no additional watercraft launching is allowed until a parking site has become available. Fishing from the dock is prohibited from Park Ordinance 91.08.
Please be advised: The primary boat access within the park has been closed, effective 8/24/16 and will remain closed until further notice. A secondary access within the park is open for use. The entrance to this access can be found SW of the large shelter on top of the hill – approx. ¼ mile up the road from the closed access on the left. Please continue to find updated information regarding the closure on this website or by contacting Andrew Dickhart or Carver County Water Management Organization. More information pertaining to operational changes and zebra mussel treatment efforts can be found at the links below. Fishing Pier: A fishing pier has been installed to provide accessibility to all Park visitors, out and onto the lake. The fishing pier is located West of the beach area on the point. In addition to facilitating anglers, the pier offers a scenic view of Lake Minnewashta.
Little Free Library: Visiting the beach and forget your book? Picnicking and want to enjoy a shady, cozy spot with a novel? You will find a Little Free Library at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park located near the beach. The honor system policy is take a book, leave a book, or take a book for the day and return it. Check out a book next time you are in the Park!
Canoe Storage: There are two canoe storage rack with a capacity of 6 canoes or kayaks per rack for a total of 12 spaces these racks are located at the Public Boat Access within the park. These storage slots are available for the public to rent for $35.00 per space, rental runs from May 1 - October 31.
