Applications for passports are only accepted at the Chanhassen Service Center.
Call (952) 361-3900 to set up an appointment during the following times:
8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday and Wednesday
8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
Appointments are recommended: If you do not have an appointment, you may have a longer wait time. Customers requesting passport services must arrive at least 1 hour prior to closing.
Applications for passports are accepted at the Chanhassen Service Center only. You may purchase passport photos only at the Chanhassen facility. Effective 11/1/2016, no eyeglasses will be permitted in passport photos except under special conditions. Due to federally mandate laws stipulating that not all types of services can be provided at one location, the Chaska facility no longer accepts applications for passports.
Current Processing Time: 6 weeks from date of application
Expedited Processing Time: 3 weeks from date of application. There is an additional $60 fee per application for this service. You may need additional money and a stamp if you require faster service.
Both parents need to be present and have a valid drivers license when applying for a passport for children under the age of 16, for first time and renewals.
When renewing a passport for children under age 16, you must have both the previous passport and certified birth certificate.

Note: You will need a separate check for each passport application payable to US DEPT OF STATE. Example: One check for Adult Passport fee ($110) and one check for Minor Passport fee ($80). Carver County execution fees for each passport application can be paid with one check. We cannot accept credit or debit cards for these fees. The payment for the actual passport fee must be in the form of personal check or money order: No cash. The execution fee for Carver County can be either cash or check.
