The Carver County Sheriff's Office maintains a Traffic Safety Program (TSP) by participating in grant-funded multi-agency activities like Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) and Sustained Impaired Driving Enforcement, scheduling various "special" shifts throughout the year to allow the deputies to focus on traffic safety.

Throughout the year and particularly around certain events, the Carver County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Program will have additional officers on patrol with the express goal of traffic safety education and enforcement.  During these times officers may be targeting specific violation or problem areas, or educating the public regarding specific issues.

Deputies assigned to TZD events are required to maintain the following training certifications:

  • SFST-Standardized Field Sobriety Training
  • OPUE-Occupant Protection Usage Enforcement
  • DTID-Drugs That Impair Driving.
