Free Carver County Day at the MN Landscape Arboretum July 14
Carver County residents, bring the family and experience a fun, free day with activities that include the popular summer exhibition Amazing Spaces Places and Escapes: Re-imagining Treehouses plus a class on pollinators for kids accompanied by an adult at the new Tashjian Bee & Pollinator Center.
There will be refreshments and a brief program at 10 a.m. with city, county and Arboretum officials. At 10:30 a.m., kids will have a 20 minute bees and trees themed story time in Reedy Gallery in the Oswald Visitor Center.
A docent-led walking tour of the gardens will run from 11 a.m. to noon. The free. red BeeLine Shuttle can take visitors to the Bee Center to explore the interactive exhibits or to stops along Three-Mile Drive to see the Treehouse exhibition. At 1 p.m., kids with an adult who have registered for the Bee Center experience will explore the world of honey bees, bumble bees, leaf-cutter bees and many other bees and find out how they achieved their status as superhero pollen movers! (Siblings may attend but need to register. Class is limited to the first 40 kids who sign up.) Send your registration to: Sehopper@umn.edu with child’s and adult’s names, by July 10 please.)
Maps for the Treehouse exhibit and the other summer exhibit, Robert Anderson’s Gardens of Kaleidescopes, are available at the information desk. The Arboretum is open 8 a.m .to 8 p.m. and Carver County residents may enter any time until closing. Any Carver County resident will get a 10 percent discount on any annual membership on that day.
The free day programs are sponsored by the City of Chanhassen, Carver County and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
