Earth Day Celebration April 22
Roll up your sleeves and get ready for spring stewardship! Join us for an Earth Day Celebration from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park located on Highway 41 between Highways 5 and 7 in Chanhassen. Hosted by Carver County Parks and University of Minnesota Scott-Carver Extension Master Gardeners, this event will include a great mix of stewardship education, volunteer projects, and picnic fun!
Outdoor service projects are a great way for you, your family or your group to give back to the parks you love. Your efforts will make a positive impact on Lake Minnewashta Regional Park by helping us plant trees, improve woodland habitat, and refresh the existing landscape. Choose between removing invasive plant species such as buckthorn, planting trees, or doing general clean-up around the park. Projects include an educational component led by Scott-Carver Extension Master Gardeners. A celebratory campfire, cookout, and recreation activities will be provided at the end of the event for those who participated in the service projects. The cookout for volunteers is sponsored by Mackenthun’s in Waconia. We invite all those who are interested to join the park staff and educational volunteers in their efforts to make the park more enjoyable for the upcoming summer.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, sturdy shoes or boots, work gloves and dress for the weather. A number of work gloves and other safety supplies will be available for volunteers to use. Registration is not required, however, if you are bringing a large group please RSVP. If your group has questions about this event, or if you would like to RSVP please contact the Carver County Parks office at 952-466-5250, email us at email@example.com.
