Save the date: Bike Konnect June 17
Mark your calendars and register today for the fourth annual Bike Konnect Event. This year’s family fun event will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 17.
The Carver County Parks Department and the Cities of Chaska and Victoria Parks and Recreation Departments are working collaboratively to connect families, connect trails, and connect communities through this family bike ride and summer kick-off event.
Offered each year on the third Saturday of June, families of all ages and abilities attend this family fun ride. It starts in Victoria at the Southwest Regional Trailhead (located near the Charlson Thun Community Bandstand) and ends at Chaska’s Fireman’s Park (located next to the Curling and Event Center downtown). This event is not a race: Participants enjoy a leisurely ride while traveling along 10 miles of Regional and City trail systems which connect the two communities. There are convenient rest areas in local parks along the way.
Once riders have arrived at Firemen’s Park, they will be able to participate in a host of fun activities including a splash pad, log rolling, bounce house, and archery. They’ll have a chance to win a post-ride prize sponsored by Michael’s Cycles in Chaska, and enjoy light post-ride snacks. Concession sales will be available for those who would like a full lunch.
There is a registration fee of $5 per rider. Children five years old and younger ride free. You may add a t-shirt purchase to your registration for $10/shirt through June 1. After the June 1deadline, registration fees remain the same, but t-shirts will not be available for purchase. Registration includes riding the course, access to all finish line activities, and transportation (if needed) from the finish line in Chaska back to the start line in Victoria. Helmets will be required; if you need to purchase a helmet, they will be for sale at the check-in booth for $10.
Bikes and riding gear will not be supplied; participants should come prepared with a bike and helmet. There will be restroom, first-aid, and water-stop areas along the route. Volunteers are needed for this event, if interested please contact City of Victoria Parks Department, Carver County Parks, or Chaska Parks and Recreation for more information.
For further information about local programs and events please contact the Chaska Community Center, Carver County Parks Office, or the Victoria Recreation Center.
