Thursday, June 6: CHASKA, MINN.—Carver County issued slow, no-wake restrictions for Lake Waconia, Lake Bavaria and Reitz Lake, effective immediately.
The restrictions are a temporary ordinance for 30 days, or until the lakes drop 0.1" below the stated triggering elevation for three consecutive days. The restriction covers the entirety of Lake Bavaria and Reitz Lake. On Lake Waconia, the County implemented a slow, no-wake restriction 600 feet from shore for the entire lake.
The restriction mirror what’s happening in many other cities, counties and watershed districts in the area. Lake Minnetonka enacted a no-wake restriction within 600 feet of shore, while the City of Chaska enacted no-wake restrictions on the portions of Lake Bavaria it oversees on June 3.
"These restrictions ensure the protection of shoreline and property, as well as the safety of all lake users, due to the unprecedented water levels on County lakes," County Administrator David Hemze said.
