Lake Minnewashta Regional Park
Lake Minnewashta Regional Park is a developing park on the shores of Lake Minnewashta. Facilities completed to date include a swimming beach, bathhouse, reservable picnic shelters, volleyball courts, creative playground, and concession stand.
Parking Permits:
All vehicles entering the park are required to purchase and properly display a daily or annual parking permit for Carver County Parks. Permits can be purchased at the park entrance either through the gate house (summer months only) or through the honor box (year round) with cash or check. Annual Permits can also be purchased online or by phone at 952-466-5250 using a Master, Visa or Discover Card. ALL replacement Annual Permits will require a $5.00 replacement fee.
Off Leash Dog Area:
Check out the highly popular off-leash dog area at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park. This 18 acre site includes a separate area for small dogs and almost a miles worth of trails. For additional information about the off-leash area visit, including maps visit the Off-leash dog area web page.
Lake Minnewashta Public Boat Access:
Two boat accesses within the park accommodate 35 vehicles with boat trailers. Parking for vehicles with boat trailers is limited to 35. If boat trailer parking is full, no additional watercraft launching is allowed until a parking site has become available.
NOTE: Boat Access #2 is closed for the 2013 season as result of Aquatic Invasive Species services.
Trails:
Enjoy a leisurely stroll along five miles of turf and natural surface trails that meander along the edge of Lake Minnewashta, through forested and prairie area of this 340-acre park. In the winter, separate trails are groomed for skiing and walking.
Beach:
Park visitors can enjoy a well kept beach and beach house at the Park. In 2011 the beach was enhanced with the addition of three large umbrellas providing additional shade to families and younger kids. The beach area has a beach house with showers. In close proximity to the beach are picnic tables and grills, ideal for summer barbeques. Lifeguard services are provided, and will be on duty starting June 8th and concluding August 12th in 2013. Services will run from 12:00NOON - 6:00PM daily, weather depending. Enjoy the beach and swim safely.
Fishing Pier:
Docks and fishing piers have been installed. A fishing pier is located west of the beach area at picnic area #1. In addition to facilitating anglers, the pier offers a scenic view of Lake Minnewashta.
Canoe Storage:
A six "slot" canoe storage rack is located at Boat Access #1 within the park. These storage slots are available to public rent for $15.00, through months of May 1 - October 31. For additional information on rental conditions and availability, please contact the park office.
