Baylor Regional Park is situated in western Carver County on Eagle Lake. The park offers 50 camping sites. Thirty-five sites have water and electrical hookups and 15 sites are primitive. Other facilities include: picnic areas, showers, swimming beach, beach house, reservable picnic shelters, ball field, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, group camping area and horseshoe pits. An 18 hole disc golf course was added to the park in the fall of 2007.
Disc Golf Information
All vehicles entering the park are required to purchase and properly display a daily or annual parking permit for Carver County Parks. Permits can be purchased at the park entrance either through the gate house (summer months only) or through the honor box (year round) with cash or check. Annual Permits can also be purchased online or by phone at 952-466-5250 using a Master, Visa or Discover Card. ALL replacement Annual Permits will require a $5.00 replacement fee.
Walk the nearly 1/4 mile long boardwalk through the cattail marsh or tour almost 4 miles of walking trails through a maple/basswood forest and native prairie. Watch for wildlife or enjoy a scenic vista overlooking Eagle Lake.
A Community Room for seating up to 100 persons is available year round in the 1935 remodeled barn with advance reservations. The Community Room has a food preparation area, heat, A/C and flush restrooms. For additional information see Shelter and Banquet Facility Information.
There is no boat access to Eagle Lake via the park. A public boat ramp is located on the southeast end of the lake off Cty Rd 135.
During the winter season, cross-country skis can be rented on weekends at the Park Office. See Winter Recreation.
The Minnesota Astronomical Society owns and operates the Onan Observatory in the park for the benefit of students, teachers, the public-at-large, and for members of the Society. Its primary mission is education and public outreach. Construction is underway in the fall of 2012, constructing two additional MAS facilities within the park. The Sylvia A. Casby Observatory and "Hotspot" Classroom are scheduled to be completed in 2013.
