The Public Works Division is organized into the Highway, Parks, Surveyor, and Equipment Maintenance Departments. The Highway Department is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of the county highway system and provides direction, coordination, and inspection in the design, construction and maintenance of the public drainage ditches. The Parks Department operates Baylor Regional Park in Camden Township, Lake Minnewashta Regional Park in Chanhassen, and Lake Waconia Regional Park east of Waconia. The parks provide various activities for visitors such as swimming beaches, hiking trails, tennis courts, tot lots and volleyball courts. Parks operate year round. Fees are charged for vehicle entry and certain activities. The Surveyor Department's responsibilities include updating maps, plats and land title surveys, setting and maintaining public land survey corners, and developing parcel maps and interacting with developers, their surveyors and the general public regarding land documentation in Carver County.
