Radon

Got Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that enters the home through soil and
water. It is odorless, and tasteless and is the second
leading cause of lung cancer, after cigarette smoking.

Here are some ways that Radon gas can enter your home.

You should consider testing your home if:

  • You have a home office or childcare business in your basement.
  • You are planning to add to your home or remodel your basement.
  • You live in a Zone 1 area, (these areas have a high potential for radon;
    this includes all of Carver County).
  • You are concerned for your health and the health of your family.

To order a short term test kit, send a check for $4 to:
Office of Environmental Services
Carver County Government Center
600 E. 4th St. East
Chaska, MN  55318

Kits can also be purchased at the Carver County Environmental Center, located at
