2010 Election Information
Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) are political subdivisions of the State. SWCD's are governed by an elected Board of Supervisors. Each Board member represents a district within the County, and each district is defined by city and township municipal boundaries. Supervisors serve four-year staggered terms, with elections taking place every even numbered year (i.e. 2010, 2012). These positions have been elected locally since SWCD's began to form in the 1930's.
Elections have always been "at-large" within Carver County – meaning that all eligible voters within the boundaries of Carver County may vote for them – however, they must live in the respective nomination district they wish to represent (to see the specific district's each Supervisor represents, click on the district link below).
In 2010, the Carver SWCD has two seats on the Board that will be filled with the general election held in November. District's 4 and 5 are the open districts. Incumbent Mark Zabel has filed for the District 4 Supervisor position; as well as Jedd Braunwarth from Waconia. Incumbent Robert Burandt has filed for the District 5 Supervisor position, and will run unopposed. Candidate profiles on each of the candidates can be found by clicking on the individual's name.
