The role of the Risk/Emergency Management encompasses Emergency Preparedness and Risk Management. Emergency Management includes assisting in the process of planning, organizing and coordinating emergency events within Carver County. This department maintains the Emergency Operations plan, 911 addressing, floodplain management, and various emergency response actions. Emergency Management is a federal- and state-mandated department which has been an active part of the emergency response network within the County. Risk Management staff are involved in many risk and insurance items such as contract review, insurance premiums and claims, and liability analysis. The department is also involved in the areas of accident prevention, ergonomics, hazard recognition for employees and buildings, injury/case management, worker's compensation claims and AWAIR/OSHA compliance training.
