Welcome to First Street Center, Carver County's Mental Health Program
First Street is licensed under Minnesota Rules 29 and 79, which means that we meet State and Federal criteria for quality mental health services. We provide mental health assessments, therapy and psychiatry to adults (including seniors), adolescents, and children in Carver County, as well as case management, chemical health, and crisis services. Our staff is committed to understanding and improving the mental and emotional health of the people we serve through caring and confidential professional services. We provide services to those with situational or short-term emotional problems as well as those with more chronic or long-term mental and chemical health problems.
First Street Center's trained staff works closely with clients, their families, other health professionals, and the community (when appropriate) to improve the lives of our residents. Individual needs and goals are respected.
We are committed to safeguarding your privacy. Confidentiality of information and records is maintained. Information is released only with a client's informed consent and written permission, or as allowed or required by law. You are encouraged to discuss with the clinician with whom you are working any concerns or questions you have regarding confidentiality.
You are encouraged to discuss financial arrangements when you first contact us.
Minnesota State Law mandates that group insurance policies must provide coverage for outpatient mental health services. Medicare and Medical Assistance also provide coverage. Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) participants should obtain approval from their insurers prior to their first appointment. Many insurance companies require a co-pay.
A sliding fee scale for Carver County residents only is available for those without insurance or for those who are unable to pay the full fee. Our intake secretary can answer questions about insurance and financial arrangements.
The majority of our services are provided at our main office at 540 East 1st Street in Waconia. Our satellite office is at the Second Street Professional Building at 102 E. 2nd St., Suite 110B, Chaska.
