First Step

First Step provides early identification and intervention services for children, birth to kindergarten, with special needs and their families.  The program offers a collaborative team approach and provides home-based and family-focused services.  Team members include early childhood special education, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, child behavior specialist, parents, child care provider, social worker, and nursing. 

Services include early assessment, identification of children's strengths and developmental needs, home visits, collaboration with early childhood family education, community health nursing and consultation to area child care centers.
