WHAT IS EXPLORING?

National Explorer Web Link
MN Explorer Web Link

Exploring is Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) or 15 through 20 years old. Adults are selected by the participating organization for involvement in the program. Color, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, economic status, and citizenship are not criteria for participation.

Purpose:

  • provide experiences to help young people mature
  • prepare young people to become responsible and caring adults
  • help young people investigate the meaning of  interdependence in personal relationships & community

Exploring is based on:

  • unique & dynamic relationships between youth and organizations within their communities.
  • matching resources and young people through community interest
  • activities that assist youth in pursuing their special interests for growth & development

Explorer posts are based on five areas of emphasis:

  1. career opportunities
  2. life skills
  3. citizenship
  4. character education
  5. leadership experience
